This is an awesome support group! Please follow it! I shared the Air Force page, but she has links to find other military SOs for all the branches!
Day #3: Post a pic of how you met and tell the date you met. Did you know then that you’d be where you are with him today?

Tim and I met in an open water scuba class in February of 2008.
I didn’t think then that Tim and I would be where we are now because I was in a relationship when we met and we didn’t talk much to each other after the class ended. We were friends on Facebook and would only talk to each other occasionally for birthdays and such.
Facebook also helped us to reconnect last year (with some coaxing from his roommate).
;)
I just moved back to Daytona actually. I was going to Santa Fe because I got accepted into their Zoo Tech program, but I decided not to do it and moved back. Do you go to UF? A lot of my best friends go there and I’m in Gainesville all the time.
Day #2: Post a picture of you and you military SO being silly
He’s going to die of embarrassment if/when he sees this ;)

This was taken on our trip to Epcot this past December on the Spaceship Earth ride. It appears on a huge screen after the ride, and a young girl saw it as she walked past and said, “They’re not looking very good…”. It was the BEST! (Like I said, he’s my best friend.)
Alright, I’m doing this! And technically, I started this before midnight, so I’m going to do two tonight. ;)
DAY #1: Post a photo of your military SO
He’s my best friend in the whole world :)

This picture was taken while he was still a cadet in the AFROTC at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU)
Tim is on a plane right now on his way to Atlanta, GA then to Colorado. I can’t shake this heavy feeling in my chest.

When Tim and I first started dating, he lived in Daytona Beach while he was going to school and I lived two hours away in Gainesville, so we have never had the pleasure of being able to drive down the road to see each other whenever we wanted. Trips always had to be planned in advance in between my busy work schedule and his hectic school and military schedule. Having to wait to see him is something that I have known and dealt with since the beginning. At the time it seemed like he was so far from me, but it was always nice knowing that if I had time off of work, that I could go down and spend some time with him. Plus, we would text each other all day everyday and Skype every night, so it wasn’t so bad.
After Tim commissioned and graduated in mid December, he went back to his hometown in Virginia. This was a big step for us in our relationship because he was going to be 800 miles away in Virginia while I was still in Florida, and any chance that we would have of seeing each other would be impossible without a plane ticket or a 12 hour car ride. We still continued to text throughout the day and Skype at night.
On January 5th, thanks to Tim, I boarded a plane from Orlando to Virgina to stay with him, his twin sister, and their parents for 10 days. We were planning on me only staying a week, but he found a flight that left 3 days later for cheaper, and I wasn’t going to complain about staying longer- so 10 days it was! My 22nd birthday fell in the time that I was there and Tim wanted to do something really special for me, so we actually spent the entire day walking around in Washington D.C., seeing all of the monuments, visiting the museums, and getting attacked by mobs of finches…(that’s a story for another time). I can honestly say that there isn’t one other person that I can have that much fun with just walking around a city than with Tim.
I left Virginia on January 15th very disheartened because at that point, I had no clue when I was going to see him again. So, I went back to having my phone glued to my hand and dates with my computer.
Tim left Virginia for Columbus, Mississippi on February 12th and that’s when the next make-it-or-break-it moment occurred in our relationship. Tim was really busy running around base getting situated in the dorms, filing out paperwork and just getting used to life in general there and he barely had time to text me during the day and there isn’t any internet in the dorms that he’s living in, so that meant no more Skyping either. And with my surgery coming up in two days, this was not the time for him to be MIA. Like I said in my last post, he was there for me as much as he could that day, and it was enough for me.
By some grace of God (and a 3 day weekend) I got to see Tim again on the 17th. He can’t leave a 300 mile radius of the base, so we tried to meet as much in the middle as we could. “Middle” ended up being in Shalimar, FL. We got a pretty great military rate of $77/night at a nice Marriott and we definitely got the money’s worth. We didn’t care about going out at all so we stayed in and watched t.v. and pigged out on left over Valentine’s Day candy. Plus, I was still recovering from my surgery 3 days prior to this trip.
I was sad leaving him again, but this time I left happy as well. We had an amazing weekend with just the two of us and we made plans to make the trip again after he gets back from IFS in Colorado.
He leaves for IFS today at 4pm, therefore starting the next make-it-or-break-it moment for us.
Not exactly how I would have planned Tim and I’s first Valentine’s Day together: Him 634 miles away at flight training and me in the hospital having surgery…

Just before they took me into the O.R.
But nonetheless, Tim made sure that he sent me a text message as often as he could to check in on me before and after the surgery. It was a lot harder than expected not having him there with me when I woke up and for my recovery, but he was here as much as he could be.
The next day…

These arrived!!
Tim sent me get-well-soon flowers from ProFlowers and they are beautiful! The note he wrote me was so sweet and it was exactly what I needed :)
This is my first official post about my relationship with my SO, and we’ve been together for almost 6 months now, so I have a lot to catch you guys up on! ;)

Tim and I met in an open water scuba certification class 4 years ago, and stayed in contact with each other through a social media website. It wasn’t until August of last year that we reconnected and then started dating the 1st of September.
Tim has been in the Air Force for 4 years, and is now an officer as a 2nd Lieutenant. He is currently at pilot training at Columbus AFB, Columbus, MS.
I currently reside in Daytona Beach, FL and hope to move out to Mississippi to be with Tim as soon as he gets back from IFS in Colorado, and as soon as he can move to off-base housing.
Basically, I started this blog to get out my thoughts and feelings as I go through the upcoming months without my SO, and to hopefully connect with other military SO’s out there!
